Functions of Verbals Color by Code Fun 8th Grade Grammar Activity

Do you want a way to practice verbals and their functions that will keep your students engaged? Then, this color-by-code activity is ideal for identifying gerunds, participles, and infinitives and their functions within different sentences.

Verbals can be challenging to learn, but by coloring at the same time, students will be tapping into both sides of their brain, making the learning more memorable, and grammar becomes more enjoyable.

There are two options for the questions so that you can differentiate or use the one that aligns to what you’ve taught. The easier version has nouns, adverbs, and adjectives, whereas the harder version splits the noun function into direct object, subject, and object of the preposition. There are 16 questions to answer.
